dear E.J. :-))

Yes, we can "wish" until the cows come home but those wishes will not prevent or even slow up the horrendous loss of life and liberty that is in the works at home and abroad. Indeed hope for the best, but look for the worst. Economies around the globe are being shaken to there foundation and everyone is looking over their shoulder watching for attackers. And thus, sadly, seeking shelter/stability/security/safety in the arms of the Grand Trickster. The Keynote is that when the child does not come to you when you offer it honey and milk, cause it to Fear and feel unstable/insecure and it will come running to you for protection. Have the child trade you it's Life for it's life.

The only Free person is an informed person. BE the gatherer you are and gather information, and somewhere between the Right and the Left is Truth.

Subject: The Day The Music Died

From: ejLight@Light-Mission.org (E.J.)

A long, long time ago... I can still remember how

And I knew if I had my chance, That I could make those people dance, And maybe they'd be happy for a while That music used to make me smile.

But February made me shiver, With every paper I'd deliver, Bad news on the doorstep... I couldn't take one more step.

I can't remember if I cried When I read about his widowed bride But something touched me deep inside, The day the music died.

Bye bye Miss American Pie, Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry Them good ole boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye Singing "This'll be the day that I die, This'll be the day that I die."

Did you write the book of love, And do you have faith in God above,

Now do you believe in rock 'n roll? Can music save your mortal soul? If the Bible tells you so? And can you teach me how to dance real slow?

Well I know you're in love with him 'Cause I saw you dancing in the gym You both kicked off your shoes Man, I dig those rhythm 'n' blues

I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck With a pink carnation and a pickup truck But I knew that I was out of luck

The day the music died

I started singing...

Now for ten years we've been on our own And moss grows fat on a rolling stone

When the jester sang for the King and Queen In a coat he borrowed from James Dean But that's not how it used to be And a voice that came from you and me

Oh, and while the King was looking down The jester stole his thorny crown The courtroom was adjourned, No verdict was returned.

And while Lennon read a book on Marx, The quartet practiced in the park And we sang dirges in the dark

The day the music died.

We were singing...

Helter Skelter in a summer swelter The birds flew off with the fallout shelter

It landed foul on the grass. The players tried for a forward pass With the jester on the sidelines in a cast Eight miles high and falling fast

Now the halftime air was sweet perfume While sergeants played a marching tune We all got up to dance Oh, but we never got the chance

'Cause the players tried to take the field, The marching band refused to yield. Do you recall what was revealed,

The day the music died?

We started singing...

And there we were all in one place A generation lost in space

So come on Jack be nimble Jack be quick Jack Flash sat on a candlestick With no time left to start again 'Cause fire is the devil's only friend

And as I watched him on the stage My hands were clenched in fists of rage No angel born in hell Could break that Satan's spell

And as the flames climbed high into the night To light the sacrificial rite I saw Satan laughing with delight

The day the music died

He was singing...

I met a girl who sang the blues And I asked her for some happy news But she just smiled and turned away But the man there said the music wouldn't play

I went down to the sacred store Where I'd heard the music years before And in the streets the children screamed The lovers cried and the poets dreamed

But not a word was spoken The church bells all were broken And the three men I admire most The Father Son and Holy Ghost They caught the last train for the coast

The day the music died.

Yes, when used to a steady stream of Truth/Reality the absence of such can be quite disorienting {8->

"`That is not said right,' said the Caterpillar. `It is wrong from beginning to end,' said the Caterpillar decidedly, and there was silence for some minutes. `Are you content now?' said the Caterpillar."

Indeed as the cliche goes, "money makes the world go round". But the Grand Trickster is not really concerned much with mere money, for it is already his. More to do, it would seem, with his favorite undertaking of Control and Manipulation.

->i ask permission to step down...

"The table was a large one, but the three were all crowded together at one corner of it: `No room! No room!' they cried out when they saw Alice coming. `There's PLENTY of room!' said Alice indignantly, and she sat down in a large arm-chair at one end of the table."

->instead of 'blasting afghanistan into the ->stone age, we're blasting ourselves there... does no one see?

"`You might just as well say,' added the Dormouse, who seemed to be talking in his sleep, `that "I breathe when I sleep" is the same thing as "I sleep when I breathe"!'"

More, it would seem, it is Feared to Open one's eyes so the eyes are kept Wide Shut.

Shar: I am but a simple woman in this life. I just want to live life in the most simplest way and have no need for any thoughts beyond simple. Anything beyond that, as Rhonda once said, makes my head hurt. Yet we can't.

This thing with identity cards, such James Bond mentality, is the way of the future. An invasion of privacy, and an easy way to keep an eye on everyone in their data base. It is not just for reasons of security and it is not freedom. Is there a difference between cards and a fence around Berlin or Russia? How we used to be so appalled at that paranoia attitude of those eastern countries with their security and borders wrapped up so tight that one can't come in let alone leave. How we cheered when the wall came tumbling down. And now we are in the process of building an invisible one, it may not be seen by the naked eye, but it will be there none the less.

What would happen if your card has a glitch day and sets off warning bells and whistles. It happens to bank cards, why not identity cards as well. Are implants next? Are we really working towards a robotitcle society one step at a time? All of this is straight out of an Arnold movie.

If we are truly a democratic society, why don't some of these decisions go back to the people as a referendum? Why don't we have a say in any of this? Government for the people by the people. What a bunch of crap they feed us.

We say most wars are fought in the name of God, religious wars, and yet, we in the west seem to hear the same words in a difference context. Each and everyone who makes a speech, pray to God, thank God, or ask God for miracles. And that makes it okay to go in and rape and pillage anothers country for their natural resources.

> By the way, it is always good/useful/helpful to consider the views of >those in other countries. So thank you for that.

Out to the forest on this wet and rainy day. You are safe from me yet again for another afternoon. Peace to all

Subject: Interesting Poll?

From: Sharlene <sharlene@Light-Mission.org>

Date: Sat, 22 Sep 2001 07:09:08 -0700

Received this bit of info hot off the press and thought I would pass it along as a point of interest. With one or two comments, as per normal. HA..

->Poll of 1,200 people conducted by Pew Research Center for the People and ->the Press:

*And this is scary stuff.

->* There is varying support for certain curbs on civil liberties in order to ->fight terrorism. Some 70 percent favored national identification cards, 40 ->percent favored law-enforcement authorities monitoring credit-card ->purchases, and 26 percent supported monitoring everyone's phone and e-mail.

* People just aren't looking beyond the basics here. They must think that this is just for defence purposes and finding criminals. This is Big Brother stuff here. If you haven't watched any reality show like Big Brother, do it. The only room that doesn't have a camera is the toilet. One is allowed to eliminate in private but nothing else. Every word, every action, is being watched and listened to. Is this what people realize will happen or are they not thinking it through? Fear is a dangerous game to be played with and manipulated. How many wrong choices are made through fear? One can't listen to their gut when the gut is already reacting through fear. -> ->* By a 2-1 margin, Americans said they oppose "the establishment of ->internment camps to round up legal immigrants from hostile nations." But 29 ->percent did support that proposition.

* Here we go back to the McCarthy years of witch hunting. Maybe even back farther during the Salem witch hunt. And or the camps to hold Japanese during the war. Either way, same thing. History repeating itself. Skin colour, language, and point of birth, does not make a criminal or a terrorist. If that was the case, we would lock up ever Italian or Cretan because they may come from Mafia heritage, or every German because they may be an underground Nazi. When will it stop. As the old song says, when will they ever learn. -> ->* Two-thirds approved of CIA assassination of foreign leaders, which now is ->banned by U.S. law.

* Can you imagine? Are we really any better than anyone else? -> ->* Seventy-seven percent said they supported the use of force, including ->ground troops, even if it means "thousands of casualties."

* Do unto others as they do unto you, but do it first, then complain and whine when someone does it to you. We don't mind killing off our own men, women and children but we want revenge if someone else does it. We don't mind killing other countries men, women and children when we feel threatened. Are we stupid or what?

Some 38 percent ->said they expected a war to last years, 31 percent expect it to last ->months, and 18 percent say they think it will last only days or weeks.

* and on the news last night they showed recruitment centers empty. The old veterans can't figure out why the young aren't flocking to these centers signing up and want the draft reinstated. I hope every young man and woman stay away from signing up and run like hell if they do reinstate the draft. There can't be a war if no one shows up to fight. Let them fill their jails with those who refuse to pick up a gun. What are they going to do, shoot their own for running away? That would be cute wouldn't it.

If they send anyone it could be the hockey players, football players and other sports stars, they are in the best physical shape and have the ,most endurance. Or would it be those actors that work out daily and flex their muscles on the screen, they are in pretty good shape too. But I doubt it, they are national heros why would they have to die. No, it would be your sons and daughters, your neighbours because they aren't National symbols of popularity. The world has too many heros that do nothing.

Maybe Bill Gates and other multimillaires will donate their millions to the cause and your tax dollars can go to health care and poverty stricken people. YA RIGHT! But it is a thought..............

Higher, lower, forward, backward ? Sounds like a new dance step you are offering. Or perhaps a shuffle. The Tao that can be named is not the Tao. Your higher self is nothing more than your higher ego telling your lower ego to behave. Yet the ego is not fooled, only the perceiver that thinks the ego can be higher or lower. Only when there is no higher or lower does one Realize that there is no ego. The True Nature is both yet neither, but either is simply the ego in the Grand Trickster's Play.

Shar: Pick mushrooms, one can't be wrapped up in thoughts and concentrate on finding the so called white gold. One has to keep the focus, keep the mind at peace, and always aware of the signs of where they might be hidden beneath the moss. Ears are open for every noise around you. Walking slowly and rhythmically through the moss, aware of whats beneath your feet at the same time of being aware of what is around you.

You hear the squirrels, you hear the birds, and yet focus on neither. They just are. listening for the sounds of the bear. Every sense is heightened, awareness of all that is around you, And yet the silence remains.

Greetings Volker, you wrote: ->how...

AS the Silence we Hear, AS the Void we See, AS the Stillness we ARE.

->stop focussing on focussing - is the focus on the focus then a distraktion?

Indeed it is, as fine tuning a radio channel is a distraction from Listening to the station signal being fine tuned. Awakening is in BEing and not in practicing to BE.

->certainment! aktual attention kan only be given to one thing at a time... ->how is it, bawd, that i kan listen to 'skating away over thin ice' & still ->peck at the keyboard like this? my phalanges seem to have a mind of their ->own - can my phalanges have one attention while the mind has an other? ->truly a marvelous instrument... might i suggest that a mind divided will ->fall - either into the phalanges or into the mind itself... in either kase, ->singlemindedness will do what it does - express itself - through the ->phalanges or the mind & yes, it kant do both at the same time, or rather it ->kan, but with only have half the force... the question then is: since the ->equation remains, half full, half empty - perhaps at some time or other, the ->half full, half empty is more advantageous that the full throttle at the ->wrong time... is this possible?

You answered your own question, as our usual mode of operation is *split attention*. The mind is a marvel, in that it can process multiple occurrences seemingly at once. Yet, with each occupance processed attention to any given occurrence is divided thus rendering less than full attention to any given occurrence. Thus less than full appreciation for any given occurrence. When you chop wood, chop wood. When you listen to music, listen to music. When you pound on the keyboard, pound on the keyboard. Half is not full or empty. Why settle for half baked ? Either cook it or leave it in the refrigerator. Half way home, half way to bed, half a song, half a message, half a paycheck, how can that be advantages at any time ?

->each moment is anew... again, most soitenally - if it wasn't anew i would ->question whether i wuz alive or not... each moment needs to be anew, tho ->sumtimes i ride the moment into stale-nitude & end up with vast sums in my ->'squandered time' akkount... from personal experience, i agree, we must ->stop being one step behind and/or one step ahead of ourselves...

Hang not Dear Friend, as sitting on the fence post gets uncomfortable. Either do or not do, and leave the Dualistic notion of *either/or* to the Dualists. In the contemplation of this or that, the Dance goes on without us.

->Higher, lower, forward, backward ? Sounds like a new dance step you are ->offering. Or perhaps a shuffle.

Not offered from here, but rather IS the dance of the Sleeping.

Subject: call it fear

From: Sharlene <sharlene@light-mission.org>

Date: Wed, 26 Sep 2001 08:34:58 -0700

Good morning Missioners, workers of the light.

It's a marvelous thing , our brain. And yet, it fills itself up with the not so marvelous crap that runs amuck, driving us into all sorts of fantasies, hopes, wishes, desires and fear.

Fear is the biggest emotion we feel these days with all the stuff that has been happening in our continent. I won't, for obvious reasons, separate the

two into countries, as there is no border or so it seems at times.

With the talk of ID cards etc, we will surely lose the right to privacy and

the right to choose.

We are turning into the big brother society that we have read about in comic books and novels over the last couple of decades. How we used to say how bad that was and how it would never happen to us. well, dear people of the light, those fantasies are becoming reality faster than we can ever imagine.

There will be nothing that we do, that the big brothers won't know about. Again I say, watch the reality shows to see what life can and will come too.

We are being driven there by fear. We fear the loss of freedom and security

to the point where we blindly following the fear into a lose of freedom and

human rights.

we are manifesting our biggest fears through our fears. We look blindly onto those in power to save us. And yet we aren't even sure

what we want to be saved from. Or is that we don't wish others to do what we do to them. How much of this doing has been kept away from the public knowledge. How much destruction have our leaders done behind our backs?

We were warned about this era in a couple books written years ago. A prediction long before the wheel was invented. Well, not quite that far back, but close.

We have seen over the years, all the leaders killed off, one by one, that could and had the charisma to gather a following of light workers. We are left with leaders who live by force, by war, and by takeover. If the pendulum swings both ways, what happened? It seems to me that the pendulum got stuck in the dark ages and now it is getting darker.

The age of Aquarius was to awaken the light workers and get them aware of what work lies ahead in the Kali Yuga. This didn't happen to the extent it should have as most of the past love generation is now the ones that lead us into the dark age. The flower children are so intent on making money now, that the light has slowly been dimming.

The idea of the flower generation got lost with the availability of drugs and the misuse of the same.

It may have induced insights and the experience of being one with the all, but that knowledge lasted only as long as the drug. The experience of the drug became more important than the messages received during the use of the

drug.

Mary Jane was good at making people mellow, but what lies underneath that mellowness, is the fact of the dependency on the use of drugs to maintain that state. It was an illusion of peace when no one wanted to be motivated

under the influence. That peace never went farther than the memory of it.

In my opinion, and it is just an opinion, the age of Aquarius did half a job. Now we go into the Kali Yuga, only half an army of light workers.

Do I have fears of the up coming years? Yes, I do. And yet not for the same

reason as others who experienced the crash. I fear that I will not have the

knowledge and energy to do what must be done.

We each live our own lives, thinking about what will happen to us during all of this darkness. We fear everything from depression to res session. And yet, in only a monetary sense. People are afraid of no jobs, no money, no freedom that money brings, and yet, the fear of losing real freedom is not there.

We are willing to sell our souls for an illusion of freedom and that my friends is the scariest thing of all. how do we fight for the freedom when we speak of such words in opposite interpretations and understanding of the

word freedom?

All we can do is wait.....and do our best to find and experience truth of all that exists. We must spend this time to prepare for what lies ahead. the only way to do that is to drop the ego and all its conditionings, lose the fears we have of what life may bring, and go with the flow of doing what must be done when it must be done.

Preparation is the key. Don't wait for spring, do it now. Never mind tomorrow. Let it go today........

Don't let money rule your life and what you do. Experience what life has to

offer to the fullest.

work until the bills and needs are fulfilled and live each and every moment

as best you can.

Don't pass on your fears to others. Let them go.

The time for awakening is now. The time for awareness is now. Search within

yourself and see how you are being affected by todays happenings. Is it beginning to control your thoughts ana movements? Is it taking the pleasure

out of the moment or is it adding to it.

Keep your sense of humor, keep your zest for life. Keep yourself to see and

yesterday, walking through the park i saw a young man on a bench... to the man's left wuz an elaborate bamboo bird cage...

the cage wuz festooned with red, white & blue ribbons... in the apex of the cage wuz a bell made of seeds that were held together with honey... on an index kard, to the left of the cage door, in felt marker wuz a 666... in smaller skrawl, underneath, a GWB, & under that, skrowleyed, wuz great white brotherhood...

huddled in a corner of the cage with bars to the back & side of her, trembling with fear or kold or konfusion. was a white canary with her head under its wing...

there were leaves in the man's hare, one shoe wuz laced, the other had dukt tape around the kollar & the sole was separated from the boot like the tongue of a bloodhound lapping the sand for moisture... i could still see his toes...

there were kids in the sandbox... none were throwing sand - milder & tamer than usual... the moms & dads were pensive, watching the kids, scanning sum unseen distance or just gazing overhead at the sky or the leaves that framed it... they were even quieter than the kids... the carousel was still, the trees less gossipy...

the young man had his 'i' on a hawk above us...

nice bird, nice cage,... Krowley? Alistaire? do what thou wilt shall be the hole of the law? what's with the ribbons? the index kard???

an anniversary... i kan't remember when she left me but when she left me the only thing she left was this Bird... & an unmade bed in a room i never sleep in... Thelema...

that her name - thelema? a canary, n'est-ce pas? albino? i've never seen a white canary... the young man stiffened momentarily, then slumped back into a slouch... slouching to bethel-ahem... isn't that a small cage, i asked, when there is all of the sky to explore...

the young man pulled himself out of the slouch, sat uprite, fingered the cage, looked at me & said: it's a small bird, man... she is free from hunger, & free from those that hunger after her... her name's karla, kari-ann, tamara & lyn... all four, but she's free & safe from predators - relatively free...

he raised his eyes to the sky again - like that hawk, he said, like that kat on the hood of the jaguar...

& indeed, there wuz a kat on the hood of the jaguar, with orange shades, tattoos & smoking a cigarette...

in that kase, i said, all those in kages, should be 'happy' because they are safe & fed... though the sky is barred & their feet tread only the gravel of yesterdays news... they should be happy... is tamara happy - does she sing? - the little white bird had its head tucked under a wing - at home?

not anymore, what's there to sing about - safe & fed or free & dead - where the dick is boba fett when u need him? boba fett???

emerson to thoreau when he saw thoreau in the concord jail, said: Henri, what are u doing in There?... said thoreau: u got it bass ackwards, Waldo - what the fuck are U doing out There... katching the Nina, Pinta & Santa Maria to go back Home? know what i mean???

the earth is phlat & we just went over the edge into the turtle's mouth -amerika's still amerika & yet it's not - it's a message from the new world to the olde - the aurobus - the Snake eating its own Tale... whyn't we stop this shit rite now?

the man opened the cage... the bird didn't move... it wuz caught betwixt two world...

Hi There archduke, you wrote: >what does one say to a Face that cannot countenance a Face other than >Itself?

S: The same thing one would say when looking in a mirror.

Nelson, nice place for sure. In spring you can pick once again in Nakusp. Morels and pines. Morels wherever a forest fire was anyway,

>never again will i live in a place where >nature - 'real nature, not parks or greenbelts' are more than an i-blink >away...

I can relate to that very well. That's why I live in Terrace.

> i too used to pick mushrooms - on the island - am just kurious >about the 'white gold' tag u put on these mushrooms... are we picking the >same mushrooms??? i ask becuz of ur 'maryjane' comments...

I pick matsutake, or pine as they are fondly known. Same as the island, same as Pemberton, Whistler, Boston Bar, Hazelton, Kitwanga and Gibsons etc. Some almost all the way to Atlin. I hear tell they found some in Alberta this year. We are at 22 per pound right now, which is low, but not as low as last year, which remained at 10 or 12 per pound. White gold........But hey, I do or can get carried away speaking about mushrooms. As for drugs, never experienced the feeling and yet have witnessed many others under the influence and not once have seen or heard an intelligent conversation spring forth. Many passing insights but none of which are remembered after the high goes away.

>the face that kannot countenance a face other than it's own - & even it's >own face at times is questionable to itself - this is an adolescent >mentation - this belongs to youth... so, in a sense, amerika is in it's >teenhood...

adolescence is close to accurate, sometimes I think toddler in the brain. If you don't do it my way, I will tell Mom and she will hit you. Give me your toys or I will blast you.

>this is kool, organikally, were it not for the 'hucksters' who >have 'bin' there from day one - used kar salesmen in sharkskin suits & >pirhana smiles...

Good definition, makes me laugh.

To understand the future, one must understand the past. Although EJ would say, neither exist in the present moment, the present is a collective of both past and future. What we have done, is a part of who we are, what we do today, has influence on who we are in the future. The trick being, not to dwell on either. Recognize it for sure, yet don't get hung up on it. Same as picking, pick one mushroom, then look for the next. Forget the one in your bag and continue to walk with awareness.

>i praktice goose stepping everyday -

Ha, I want to see that...lol

>u gotta stay >In, shar, becuz from here on in, dissent will becum treason & the demand for >obedience will have no leeway...

I am afraid you are correct.

>our kollektive soul is kooked - unless, >unless, kollektively, with the aulde world, we take the reins of this >runaway nitemare... globalization from the bottom up, as opposed to from >the top down...

Right.

>i mean, this is demo cracy, n'est-ce pas -

In theory only I would think. Those or that are only people pleasing words, when in reality, one is the same as the other. And the same for Communism, no such thing, in reality, anyone who uses a monetary system can't be true communist. They are only labels, for telling one group from another. And we aren't happy without labels. We relate to labels as people are fearful of that which can't be named. On the 9/11 day, what kind of kayos would prevail if they hadn't been able to name a group responsible? So it's like picking any name out of a hat just to calm things down.

>the voice of the >people, not the media ( who are in the pockets of vested interest) nay, not >the pimps & whore mongers (great language, eh)

The language/labels do the trick though don't they?

> but the People... if any are >left... u kall them lite workers, i kall them people - people, if they >ain't 'bin' overly toxified or bought into the manufaktured consent circus, >people will win out... in the long run... becuz mother nature will take >over if the kids go too far... tho the kids are alright...

Mother nature is already fighting back in many ways.

Ah, but I think, and its only a think, is that the animal, vegan world feels and knows of changes on earth long before we do. They are far more in tune with what is than we are. We , as people, are more tied in with the intellect rather than awareness. How many bears, moose and deer, watch you walk in the woods? They know you are there, they also know your intent, which is what keeps you safe I figure. If you were there to bring harm, they would be long gone or chasing you already.

>what we see in the atmosphere, in the sea & in the woods is merely that >which we are not seeing in our Selves...

Sigh, can we not see the connection? How dependant we are upon nature, when nature doesn't depend on us at all, let alone need us. We are the leeches , the whore mongers , and the pimps of the world.

Greetings Volker, you wrote: ->what u deskribe - the 1984 scene - that happened ages ago - it's just now ->the noose gets tighter -

Yes, 1984 is almost twenty years gone by. But Orwell sensed, in 1949, if the world continued on it's course at the time, what it could very well unfold into. Much of his vision seems to be taking observable shape these days. Information, understanding, and Clear thinking is most Vital lest we fall prey to Fear and insecurity. Somewhere between the Left and the Right is the Middle Way (Truth), as neither the Left nor the Right has Truth at it's disposal. Awakening is about clinging to neither Left nor Right but letting go of conditioned notions and Clearly Understand What-IS AS it IS without the projections of Left or Right. A few excerpts from "1984":

Book One, Chapter 1

"- who were the most bigoted adherents of the party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers-out of unorthodoxy." -- pg 12

"The thought police would get him just the same. He had committed - would have committed, even if he had never set pen to paper - the essential crime that contained all others in itself. Thoughtcrime, they called it. Thoughtcrime was not a thing that could be concealed forever. You might dodge successfully for a while, even for years, but sooner or later they were bound to get you." -- pg 19

"People simply disappeared, always during the night. Your name was removed from the registers, every record of everything you had ever done was wiped out, your one-time existence was denied and then forgotten. You were abolished, annhilated: vaporized was the usual word." -- pg 20

Book One, Chapter 2

"Nearly all children nowadays were horrible. What was worst of all was that by means of such organizations as the Spies they were systematically turned into ungovernable little savages, and yet this produced in them no tendency whatever to rebel against the discipline of the Party. On the contrary, they adored the Party and everything connected with it. All their ferocity was turned outwards, against the enemies of the State, against foreigners, traitors, saboteurs, thought-criminals. It was almost normal for people over thirty to be frightened of their own children." -- pg 24

"Thoughtcrime does not entail death: thoughtcrime is death." -- pg 27

Book One, Chapter 3

"And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed - if all records told the same tale - then the lie passed into history and became truth. 'Who controls the past' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.'" -- pg 32

"Day by day and almost minute by minute the past was brought up to date. In this way every prediction made by the Party could be shown by documentary evidence to have been correct; nor was any item of news, or any expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to remain on record. All history was a palimpsest, scraped clean and reinscribed exactly as often as was necessary." -- pg 36

Book One, Chapter 5

"Don't you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? Has it ever occurred to your, Winston, that by the year 2050, at the very latest, not a single human being will be alive who could understand such a conversation as we are having now? The whole climate of thought will be different. In fact, there will be no thought, as we understand it now. Orthodoxy means not thinking - not needing to think. Orthodoxy is unconsciousness." -- Syme, pg 46-47

"It was terribly dangerous to let your thoughts wander when you were in any public place or within range of a telescreen. The smallest thing could igve you away. A nervous tic, an unconscious look of anxiety, a habit of muttering to yourself - anything that carried with it the suggestion of abnormality, of having something to hide. In any case, to wear an improper expression on your face - was itself a punishable offense. There was even a word for it in Newspeak: facecrime." -- pg 54

Book One, Chapter 6

"Your worst enemy, he reflected, was your nervous system. At any moment the tension inside you was liable to translate itself into some visible symptom." -- pg 56

Book One, Chapter 7

"If there was hope, it must lie in the proles, because only there, in those swarming disregarded masses, eighty-five percent of the population of Oceania, could the force to destroy the Party ever be generated." -- pg 60

"Until they become conscious they will never rebel, and until after they they have rebelled they cannot become conscious." -- pg 61, referring the proles

Book One, Chapter 8

"- to do anything that suggested a taste for solitude, even to go for a walk by yourself, was always slightly dangerous. There was a word for it in Newspeak: ownlife." -- pg 70

Book Two, Chapter 9

"In Oceania at the present day, Science, in the old sense, has almost ceased to exist. In Newspeak there is no word for 'Science.' The empirical method of thought, on which all the scientific achievements of the past were founded, is opposed to the most fundamental principles of Ingsoc." -- pg 159

"The citizen of Oceania is not allowed to know anything of the tenets of the other two philosphies, but he is taught to execrate them as barbarous outrages upon morality and common sense. Actually, the three philosophies are barely distinguishable." -- pg 162

"Oceania has no capital, and its titular head is a person whose whereabouts nobody knows." -- pg 172

"Sanity is not statistical." -- pg 179

Book Two, Chapter 10

"It was curious to think that the sky was the same for everybody, in Eurasia or Eastasia as well as here. And the people under the sky were also very much the same - everywhere, all over the world, hundreds or thousands of millions of people just like this, people ignorant of one another's existence, held apart by walls of hatred and lies, and yet almost exactly the same - people who had never learned to think but were storing up in their hearts and bellies and muscles the power that would one day overturn the world." -- pg 181

sumthing i used to think about & then it went away & now it pops up again in my mentation: what (brian) is the meaning of life?

what does a suicide bomber signify besides a misplaced ideology... what makes a 'real' life less valuable than the 'idealized' one? indeed, what is 'real' & what is 'idealized' - which karries more weight... can it be that there is sumthing sandwiched between both of these 'terms'?

i, my self, know naught & don't much kare - i survive betwixt these two extremities - why - what is the meaning of life... why didn't i 'off' my self when things got ugli - why does ugliness fascinate me now - self preservation? for what? the unfolding of another 'ideology'???

Greetings Volker, you wrote: ->sumthing i used to think about & then it went away & now it pops up again in ->my mentation: what (brian) is the meaning of life?

Must there be a "meaning of life" ? Perhaps it is in BEing Life.

->what does a suicide bomber signify besides a misplaced ideology... what ->makes a 'real' life less valuable than the 'idealized' one? indeed, what is ->'real' & what is 'idealized' - which karries more weight... can it be that ->there is sumthing sandwiched between both of these 'terms'?

Life is most Real whether idealized or not. Differentiating between the two is most ludicrous, as there is but One Life. There is not *your life* and *my life* but rather Life, and All is most precious. It is conditioned ideas and images and meanings and notions of all sorts that lend to judgements of varying values and of varying possessors of varying lives. Life is most fragile and priceless, yet holds no real value other than Life is what we ARE so commands a certain respect. Life is not our's to have or to get rid of, nor to be possessed or taken from another. It is our conditioned notions that make us think so. Life IS, whether there is a meaning to it or not. And since it's so called meaning is not fathomable by the conditioned mind there is little use in thinking about it. The same would apply to Life's so called purpose. Only the conditioned mind thinks about Life's purpose and meaning, which could never Understand either, so why think about it ? Life IS, and we ARE, so it would seem that we should BE Life and leave the purpose and meaning to Life. Life does quite well without us thinking about it, and we just mess it up when we do.

->i, my self, know naught & don't much kare - i survive betwixt these two ->extremities - why - what is the meaning of life...

What is the meaning of a human sandwich ? Lunch for the Jolly Green Trickster ? Why get yourself is such a serving ?

->this is the kind of shit that i think about when i sleep...

Then..... start Awakening {8-> Perhaps THEN you will Truly Understand the True Purpose and True Meaning of Life. To Truly Understand it you must BE it -- BEing the True Purpose and True Meaning of Life. To BE Life is to BE it's Purpose and Meaning.

I follow what you are saying. This is what happens when most do look in a mirror. We do not face ourselves either. We do not look farther than the reflection. We do not see beyond what are eyes see. We can look at ourselves without seeing, we can label ourselves without knowing what we are labelling. When we look in the mirror we can our greatest enemy or our greatest friend.

> wot i wuz meaning: how cum >amerika cannot tolerate that which is not amerika...

Or that which they do not or can not control...... The bigger they are, the harder they fall. They are, the bully of the playground. I don't like to see others suffer needlessly, but wouldn't have been angry if the buildings had been blown up when they were empty. It's not the people of America that most are angry with, but what the few people do to other countries.

>the ideal is nice, >yes, but the ideal died with Amerikans - not the ashmoles that 'thimk' they >run the circus now... the truth will set u free, etc...

What is the truth?

> & the only thing i >can do with money is to burn it for warmth - i kant eat it, i don't have >enuff to stack up the bills & make a house - essentially, it's useless >except as an 'exchange'...

Here at one time, I thought we would get to the point where we would a wheelbarrow instead of a purse to carry our money, but no fear of that, new money is smaller and weighs less than the old money. two new dimes are as thick as one old one, and are no longer silver. No wonder it's worth-less.

> but when the exchange is run by those who want >to generate more paper, that's when i run to the hills... to chop wood, to >carry water, to pinch my loafs in the outhouse -

Gotta be grateful for the paper.

>fuck this buying into air >miles & don't pay until the spring of years that may not show up... know >wot i mean?

The more debt we generate, the more control they have. We really have to look closer at a two income family as well. It's not that we bring home more money, it just increases our credit rating and screws up the income tax. It has been proven on paper that unless the second income generates more than 60,000 per year, we gain nothing by both people working. If fact we lose in many more ways than that. The family unit is based on what we earn instead of what we do together. Other people raise our families and it cost about half most normal second incomes. The next quarter gets paid in income tax, and the last quarter goes to fast food because no one has the energy to cook meals or the time. We are very quickly losing families to the control of others.

>i'd rather kapitualate to the void than goosestep with monsanto >geese... a year or two ago the cows went 'mad' - now it's us... go >figure...

And we wonder why postal workers go ballistic.

>howse about the things we do in the future - will that not have an 'effect' >on what i do today?

How can we do in the future before we do what we do today. The only thing we do today is plan for retirement. And why do we plan for retirement? Because we are doing what we hate to do and can't wait to quit. If we do today what we love to do, why should we even consider retirement? Why can't we do what we love to do until we can no longer do it? The average person only lives long enough to collect 6 retirement cheques. Thats a future to look forward to. that average, by the way, is from mill workers and that type of employment. Now thats something to work towards. NOT! Rumor even has it that by the time our generation retires, there will no longer be enough money for retirement funds anyway. We really need to reconsider our lives and how we live them.

>becuz in my small mind, today is sandwiched between >yesterday & tomorrow, tho i know full well that neither yesterday or today >exist - there is only now - which, by the way, just passed me by tho i wore >my koolest shades & shirt while thumbing... alberta plates...

They just don't know k...e..w...l when they see it.

>troo, but it being us that screws up the scenario, i think that the first >screw up occurs with us - hence, it is we who screw up nature -

That goes back to the olden days when we started chewing up the ground for minerals and oil. We created the problems of the world today, by what we did yesterday. And yet learning from the past, we continue to screw up our future. I don't have any answers for the problems. If I had my way, we would do away with the parliament as it is today, politics as it is today, and start over. Is there any one who would ignore power and personal gain if elected?

>we are the >first line of defense/offence, etc... but as u say, to me it is only a >think... keep in mind tho, shar, that it is us that alters nature...

Yes, it is us, and yet nature does it's own changing even in places we haven't been. One flood we had here took out every bridge we had for miles in every direction. It wasn't because we did anything above them, it was just a flood. Yet, it paralyzed the town for weeks.

> what >the natural world feels thru our presence, i believe we feel it first but >are too egocentric to realize it...

I think we give allot of pain to nature. We don't treat her with respect and yet, we holler like hell when she fights back. We don't feel the pain, we can see the wounds every day with pavement, clear cutting, mining and super highways, the cement jungle grows without concern. We bury farm land and wonder where food will come from. We are a stupid lot in my opinion. And yet, we do nothing. We pollute the atmosphere with space junk and the list goes on. We sit in silence and cheer when men walk on the moon. What the hell for?

> how kan one Real-ize when one Isn't... >when one pretends to Isness...

One just knows on some level.

>as i am doing now...

Which is?

Of course, always nice to see you.
