Greetings,

What-IS, this very Moment, whatever that experience IS is the greatest experience we can ever have. What has been and what will be are but smoke that clouds Awakening.

Greetings Community,

A Journey. When we are head bound we *think* we have all the answers because we have tried everything and fashioned our own rendition of how things are, or we trod along following the herd because it agrees with us or we want someone else to Save us. When we discover the Way (as vague as it might be at this point) we mysteriously turn into sponges, soaking up everything we can. When we start upon the Path (yet even more vague at this point) we know everything there is to know, are ten feet tall, and SuperMan. As we take a few Steps in our Journey upon the Path we see that perhaps there were a couple of insignificant items we may have overlooked thus do not know every little thing. Further along the Path we Recognize that there was a lot we did not know then that we do Realize now. Yet further along the Path we wonder what we did know because we have had to un-learn thus re-learn most everything. Then comes the point on the Path that we Realize/Recognize that we really knew nothing though *thought* we did, that we are nowhere near ten feet tall, and that SuperMan was an illusion.

Lost, Alone, an Identity crisis, what is this all about and what are we doing here in this no-man's land. Reluctantly trudging on further a step or two we Understand that there was never anything to know and that there never was anyone to know it. Being head bound it was all in our head. That even the Journey/Way/Path is a figment of our imagination like everything else. It is all in our head. So we wonder, 'Empty the head'. Nothing for the mind to process, no thoughts to arise, Silence, Stillness, Serenity, Awe over the myriad of *things*, Wonder at the Miracle of Presence, stupefied by the ever anew Moment from Moment to Moment. Well, what is to lose at this point, so Just Do It.

Time stands still, it seems, as there seems to be no duration, though All continues AS it IS in an ever Unfolding Change. Movement ceases, it seems, as no matter where we go there we ARE, coming from nowhere in particular and going nowhere in particular, even when planned. Nothing seems to really exist beyond the confines of the Present Moment, though Infinitely Eternal and ever renewing anew. Nothing relevant yet All is relevant, no past yet the past was, no future yet the future will be, nothing known yet all is known, nothing understood yet all is understood, all is Sleeping yet all is Awakening, all is vague yet all is Clear, nothing is alike yet all is the same, all is obscure yet all is quite obvious. Nothing is what it seems.

The alarm goes off and we wake up. Rubbing the sleep from our eyes we gather our wits. Sluggishly go for the morning tea. Then prepare to go to work at our job. Work the shift, interact with others, and make our way home. Gather the mail, work on various projects at home, and fix dinner. Eat and relax or work some more on various projects. Retire for the evening to sleep thus rest a weary body/mind. Always where we are, always doing whatever it is we are doing. Using the mind/body complex (which includes memory retrieval) to function and thus survive. Simple. No stress, no strain, no conflict. The problem is when we are not mentally where we are and what we are doing.

We complicate thus stress thus strain thus cause conflict by dwelling on other than where we are and what we are doing. We harm ourself psychologically/mentally and sometimes even physically when our mind is off on one thing and where we are and what we are doing is another. Seems a bit self-destructive, suicidal in a real sense. STOP and take a good look at what you are doing to yourself and others. It is so Simple and so obvious.

When thoughts self-arise, observe them and let them drift on out the way they drifted in (phenomenally speaking). They have no strength or power of their own, other than what strength and power we give them. They come and go like any other phenomena. They are not Real so treat them as though they are not Real, pay them no heed and follow them not. Just Watch them as though they were a mirage floating by. Like the stray animal that happens by, they will leave if you do not Feed them. This will keep you mostly Present. But that is not it, because though you might be mostly Present there is still the continuous vicious cycle of Pleasure and Suffering. For though the thoughts might not be self-arising they still distort perception when evoked. So Awakening is not simply about BEing the Present Moment, though BEing the Present Moment is an important ingredient. The Real Slayer of the Real is letting go of those deeply rooted preconceptions (conditionings) that keep influencing (controlling/manipulating) our thinking and behavior. Keep us clinging to this and that. So all is for naught when we do not let the conditionings go FIRST. This is the Great Secret. To think otherwise is the Grand Illusion.

A Great Secret because you do not See it, though it is most obvious and more plain than the nose on your face. A Grand Illusion because it is all in your head, though it seems otherwise.

It is the stuff Peace is made of, and Compassion/Empathy/Love/Tranquility/Serenity/Understanding/Awareness. Too bad more people do not Just Do It. It does have a certain appeal {8->

Greetings,

Indeed, it is the Adventure that beats all Adventures. It is the Quest for the Holy Grail. There is but one Path to the Grail, and that Path is fraught with many pitfalls and barriers. Do not mistake the excitement of the Quest for the Quest. Awakening is the steepest mountain you will ever climb. It is the roughest terrain you will ever travel. It is the deepest widest ocean you will ever swim. So when the excitement wears thin and becomes Work, the True Journey will Begin.

Dogen: Truth is not far away. It is ever present. It is not something to be attained. Not one of your steps lead away from it.

->Dogen: ->Truth is not far away. ->It is ever present. ->It is not something to be attained. ->Not one of your steps lead away from it.

This is so True. BEing the True Nature we ARE is the only place Truth IS. And to BE that Truth, as Ray stated, "Awakening is the steepest mountain you will ever climb. It is the roughest terrain you will ever travel. It is the deepest widest ocean you will ever swim. So when the excitement wears thin and becomes Work, the True Journey will Begin". For the Battle is not to start Awakening or to BE Truth, but rather to let go of the defiling conditionings that prevent BEing Truth (BEing the True Nature we ARE). Simply Drop the Stick we keep beating ourself up with and low and behold there Truth IS.
